Almond Cherry Cobbler

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup butter
    3/4 cup all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder 1
    /4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup milk
    1/4 teaspoon almond extract
    1 (16-ounce) can pitted tart red cherries, undrained (not pie filling)

Directions for the Almond Cherry Cobbler

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place butter in an 8-inch square baking dish. Place dish in oven for 5 minutes or until butter melts.   Combine flour and next 3 ingredients in a medium bowl; add milk and almond extract, stirring until smooth. Pour batter over melted butter. (Do not stir.) Pour cherries over batter.   Bake 40 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.
